    New Electricity Tariff: Court Dismisses Application To Stay Proceedings




    Rickey TarfaA Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has tossed out a suit over the trek in power levy, for absence of legitimacy.




    Equity Mohammed Idris held that in opposition to the cases of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), there is no sign that a request has been recorded for hearing at the Appeal Court.

    The NERC had requested that the court stay procedures until its allure against two past decisions are heard and controlled by the Appeal Court.

    The application was released and an expense of ten thousand Naira was honored for the offended party, a Lagos based legal advisor, Toluwani Yemi-Adebiyi.

    The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on February 15, 2016 cautioned the Federal Government and the Distribution Companies (DISCOs) not to ignore subsisting court orders on power tax.

    The court likewise cautioned the administration not to act in a way that demonstrated contempt for the court in a protected majority rule government.

    Directing Justice, Mohammed Idris, gave the notice while administering in a suit documented by an attorney and rights extremist, Toluwani Adebiyi, over the late trek in power levy on Monday.
