    PENALTY SHOOTOUT RECORDS 

    • The penalty shootout at Anfield saw 30 penalties taken, of which 27 were scored.
    • The number converted equals the 2011 Football League Trophy first round tie between Dagenham & Redbridge and Leyton Orient. On that occasion 27 were successfully converted before Orient's Ben Chorley saw his saved to hand the Daggers a 14-13 win.
    • The overall number of penalties taken matches the October 2013 Hampshire Senior Cup match between Brockenhurst and Andover Town. After 29 successful kicks, Andover's Claudio Herbert was the unfortunate one as Brockenhurst won 15-14.
    • The previous longest League Cup shootout was 9-8 on three occasions - Arsenal vs Rotherham in 2004, Man City vs Stoke and Aston Villa vs Colchester, both in 1982.
    • The longest in the FA Cup came in November 2001, when Macclesfield beat Forest Green 11-10.
    • The world record for the longest penalty shootout was set in 2005 when the Namibian Cup final saw 48 spot-kicks. After a 2-2 draw in normal time, KK Palace beat Civics 17-16.
